Our client based on the outskirts of Huntingdon are looking for a:-

- Purchasing Assistant/Junior Buyer
- Temporary - 3/6 months
- Pay rate:- £12.75 to £15.00 per hour
- Monday to Friday - 8.30am to 5pm ( hour lunch)

Must have Purchasing experience

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for providing a comprehensive system based tactical purchasing and purchase requisition processing service to end-users, to ensure that purchased items are available in a timely and efficient manner to support the needs of the business and fulfil the principles of best quality and value.

This job contributes to organizational success by:
• Ensuring that purchase requisitions and other tactical goods and services requirements are processed and delivered on time to the correct specification by following the purchase to pay process
• Working proactively with and developing effective relationships with key stakeholders in the business to ensure that the team is at the forefront of initial requirement identification and end users are supported in full throughout the entire operational purchasing value chain
• Allowing internal customers to focus their attention on delivering successful outcomes in the safe knowledge that their products/services will be available when required in an efficient and cost-effective manner
• Continuing to help drive simplified procurement processes both internally and with our suppliers/vendors

Job Requirements:
• To provide a consistent, comprehensive and co-ordinated systems-based end to end purchase requisition and tactical purchasing ordering service to end-users to ensure that best value pricing, quality and availability requirements are met in full
• To work closely with the Accounts Payable team to ensure that a smooth and seamless joined up process prevails across the entire purchase to pay (P2P) journey for goods and services sourced via this route
• To assist in the resolution of invoice pricing queries with Accounts Payable colleagues and suppliers as appropriate and any other tactical related purchasing queries
• Ensure that standing financial instructions and other policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Combine diverse requirements from different cost centres into concise purchase orders to place with suppliers to facilitate maximum efficiency throughout the P2P process
• Provide process support and advice for DAX, JDE and other Purchasing related software systems to the end users/requisitioners of the system as required
• Offer advice, guidance, training and assistance on any operational and tactical purchasing related topic with internal customers and maintaining a high level of customer service
• To work in close collaboration with the stores and logistics area of the team to optimise efficiency in relation to the management of stock and non-stock item orders and efficient resolution of any queries/issues encountered
• Continue the drive for customer service excellence and continuous improvement both internally and externally for the organisation through meeting and exceeding the KPI targets set for the area.
• Carry out project work as directed by immediate line manager and other Procurement leaders

Candidate Requirements:
• Good general education to a minimum of GCSE standard including English and Mathematics
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office based applications and ideally previous exposure to databases, purchase to pay and/or accounts payable systems
• Ideally, previous experience in an Accounts Payable or Transactional Procurement systems-based processing environment with familiarity of JD Edwards or Microsoft AX based solutions or equivalent
• Conscientious, well organised, customer focused, good attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong team player able to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision
