This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER, PositionDescription Number D******* and is part of the OH USPFO Warehouse,Ohio Army National Guard.

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee one or moreproduct lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as thesenior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility.

As a MATERIALS HANDLER, WG-6907-6, you will perform the followingduties:

1) Performs a full range of warehousing activities to includereceiving, storing, selecting and shipping bulk and bin materialsand equipment. Assists in the development of plans for storage andarrangement of stock to determine warehouse configuration, setup,movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. In larger warehousefacilities, the incumbent may participate in developing storage andspace utilization plans in accordance with materials storageareas.

2) Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement ofmaterials within docking area. Schedules personnel to facilitatemovement in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements andspace allocations. Operates large warehouse perimeter vehicles suchas cargo tractors, stake trucks, mobile cranes, and forkliftsranging in size up to 10,000 lbs.

3) Prepares inventory and production reports, screens and identifiesshipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and directsshipments to shipping or storage areas. May be required to storehazardous materials. This requires knowledge or specializedhandling, storing, and safety procedures that can only be gainedthrough formal course of study and on-the-job training to insureadherence to governing regulatory procedures and policies. Operatesnumerous hand and stationary power tools.

4) Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts and disposes of a widevariety of materials and property including electronic equipment,aircraft and automotive components and assemblies. Determinesphysical condition and serviceability of material and property.Checks stock numbers and part numbers in supply catalogs toadequately identify property. Advises supervisor about inconsistentshipment information, defective material or property, and damagefrom shipping.

5) Performs all other duties as assigned.

Ohio Army National Guard Membership is required.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for SelectiveService.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a backgroundinvestigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationaryperiod.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.


Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to theeffective date of placement. This is an excepted service positionthat requires membership in a compatible military assignment in theemploying states National Guard. Applicants who are not currently amember of the Ohio Army National Guard must be eligible forimmediate membership. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstratesthe ability to compare item identification against receiving reportsand issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, andother equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, andother hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: - Experience or training in receiving,packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compilingreports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, andaccepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques. Experiencein setting up and rotating storage locations considering factorssuch as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc.
