Note: this position requires 100% travel



Position Summary



This level will have a minimum of one year technical experience with Duke or equivalent. This level is somewhat proficient, but still needs supervision. The technician will need to complete the Intermediate Knowledge Requirements before reaching this level. A Level 2 will have achieved the required tenure and completed the required JPMs. Employees at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.



Responsibilities



Maintenance and repair of gearboxes



- Prepare and execute specific repairs on various gearboxs models.



- Perform general inspection of the current gearbox conditions



- Perform borescope inspections of all gearbox types.



- Perform training when required by the manager.



- Perform small or large repairs on gearboxes.



- Work independently or with a crew at any time.



- Complete reports bases on every repair or inspection.



- Work as scheduled during the week and on call as required by the manager.



- Climb 300 ft. several times daily



- Maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times.



- Be able to travel for 6 weeks at maximum at any time of the year.



Compliance & Administrative Record Maintenance



- EH & S Documentation



- Complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary)



Add l Support for Sites



- Willing to travel for extended periods



Basic/Required Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent and a two year associates degree or technical school certificate AND



2 plus years of directly related work experience;



OR



A combination of education and 3 plus years of directly related work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree/technical certificate



Ability to climb turbine towers (up to 300ft) daily is a requirement of this position.



A valid drivers license is required



Desired Qualifications



Additional years gearbox repair experience is strongly preferred



Experience with grinding equipment, torches, and hydraulic torqueing equipment.



Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)



Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements



Specific Requirements



Basic Electricity, Mechanical Fundamentals, Hydraulic Fundamentals, and Environmental, Health and Safety Fundamentals
