My client are a well established £50 million turnover company that specialise in FM, fit out, construction (all sectors) with project values up to £40 million, they are looking to recruit a Bid Writer to join their team in either Leeds or Manchester.

The purpose of the Bid Writer role will be

To support the Facilities Property team in providing clear, concise, dynamic and focused tender return proposals for building fabric related projects and framework opportunities.

To manage and coordinate the PQQ, RFI and overall tender processes to ensure the accurate submission of all relevant information to the prescribed tender timetable

Key Responsibilities for the Bid Writer

Produce a tender production matrix to project manage the bid and keep this focused and up to date.

To consistently deliver to the companies expectations across all key areas, managing and supporting individuals and teams to meet and exceed business performance targets.

To manage and distribute client tender documentation internally throughout the bid process

Read, interpret and fully understand a tender enquiry document.

Create and manage the production of quality tender documents that identify the key needs of the customer, how they will be achieved, and the benefits of engaging with SPIE Facilities Services and the wider business, highlighting our value proposition and USP’s

Create documents that are succinct yet clear and of the highest quality

Fully understand all about the client and their drivers and work with the bid team to present this the best way possible in tender documents

Review and demonstrate an understanding of tender documents highlighting key aspects, requirements and identify “key” areas of risk and opportunity together with proposals to maximise our offer relevant to the specific opportunity.

Plan and co-ordinate the bid process from receipt of enquiry through to submission (with support from commercial & operational teams)

Ensure all submission documentation meets with company branding guidelines and establish template return documentation for bid team.

Maintain and build relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

Develop positive relationships within the facilities division and other division to maximise opportunities and align process.

Extract and agree with bid team key Unique Selling Points (USP)’s for use in Executive Summary

Support and contribute to the Go / No Go and Commercial Review Board (CRB) process.

Lead the production of presentations ( i.e. tender interviews etc)

Apply innovative and alternative solutions to tender requirements

Attend post tender presentations if required

Attend site, presentations or interviews as and when required

Develop and manage processes and library’s for case studies, staff CV’s, projects photos, bid templates

Manage access to and sharing of information from tender portals including uploading tender submissions, RFIs etc.

Manage tender planner / pipeline and the weekly update provided to Salesforce

The Ideal Candidate for the Bid Writer role will:

Be able to prioritise workload, delegate and communicate effectively with all departments.

Be able to project manage a number of bids in an organised and controlled manner using the tools provided.

Write in a clear, concise, engaging and active voice

Creative, innovative and personable with the ability to work to tight timelines

Minimum of A grade GCSE in English or recognised equivalent

Proven experience in technical bid writing

Experience in building fabric related bid writing / management for both projects and frameworks (project works and maintenance) as both tier 1 and tier 2.

Strong working knowledge of InDesign software

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

And will ideally:

Prince II, Advanced Publisher, Visio user

Proven experience/knowledge in the Facilities Maintenance industry

Understanding of the market drivers and our competition
