Line Manager/ Appraiser: Member of Leadership Group
Staff Responsibilities: Leadership of a Curriculum Area with a member of Leadership Group
Key Responsibilities
To assist the Head of School, Leadership Group and Executive Head in leading a Curriculum area with the aim of raising attainment and accelerating the progress of all students. To undertake any professional duty delegated by the Executive Head.
To become a Lead Teacher in the area of responsibility - developing subject knowledge across the whole school and becoming our resident expert in Teaching & Learning.
To be a Lead Teacher modelling, team teaching, providing CPD and supporting staff to improve their practice.
To lead and promote all aspects of the schools ethos, values and vision.
The Lead Teachers will be expected to work independently as well as in close partnership with the Deputies, Head of School, Executive Head and Governors.
The Lead Teacher will have a variety of delegated responsibilities relating to their Curriculum Area to lead students, staff and initiatives; this will be in addition to carrying out the professional duties of a class teacher.
The contract is for 2 years allowing for development and growth of the Lead Teacher.
Areas of Leadership
To set exemplary standards as a class teacher providing a role model for all staff in both classroom practice and in implementing all school policies
To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and student progress and achievement across the identified Curriculum Area and ensuring high standards are attained by staff and that all students fulfill their potential.
To plan and deliver effective and inspirational CPD on teaching and learning as required.
To lead/ contribute to meetings (with the Deputies/ Head of School), for Teachers and Support Staff.
To promote the school curriculum model.
To monitor, support and challenge teachers to develop outstanding practice in teaching & learning; experimenting in new and innovative pedagogy.
To work effectively in the Leadership Group making a major contribution to work and ethos of the school
To support staff in setting & achieving challenging targets for all students and meeting/ exceeding these
To lead aspects of school self-evaluation in the identified Curriculum Area and review through School Improvement
To be flexible and adaptable, willing to develop and learn as appropriate.
To successfully contribute to the development of the school as a strong and cohesive community that serves the needs of all our students, parents/ carers, staff, Governors and the wider public.
To support and develop equal opportunities for all members of the school community
Specific Responsibilities – September 2019
These will be agreed each term to meet the needs of our students and staff and be identified with Leadership Group.
Other Duties
To undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time commensurate with the post of a Lead Teacher.
This job description is not exclusive and may be amended from time to time by agreement between the Executive Head and the member of staff. The job description will be reviewed annually by agreement between the Executive Head and the member of staff.
