Our client is a leading international organisation in the generator/power rental market. Due to the growth in the gas side of their business they are looking to recruit a gas design engineer. This role is flexible regarding location and the ideal candidate can be based anywhere in the United Kingdom.

About this job: To lead in the design and development of major projects from a technical perspective including customer meetings, site surveys, technical drawings, RAMS, creation of project design packs, equipment lists, materials procurement in addition to providing guidance and assistance to the project delivery teams leading the on-site delivery and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sales & Service Support on Major Projects / Technically Complex Applications – Lead with technical specifications, mechanical design, documentation, drawings, QHSE and legislation. Attend and support customer site visits as and when required in all areas of NE • Support gas generation and major project business development within NE • Promote work within Aggreko’s Energy Safety Rules • Produce documentation for the technical elements of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) • Lead in the design and construction of mechanical and civil infrastructure

• Support Project Engineers / Service Engineers - Assistance to be provided as and when required. Assist with Project Engineer development • Support QHSE regarding Safety Issues - Assist with written procedures, legislation, codes of practice and incident investigation

• Sales • Service Management • Project Managers • Project Engineers • QHSE • Local service teams

Person Specification:

• Documented knowledge of power generation, fuel systems, including gas and diesel

• Project Management experience with a track record of delivery against time and cost targets • Excellent written and verbal communication at all

• AutoCAD trained and experienced

• Customer facing with the ability to give both positive and negative feedback

• Working knowledge of the regulations for the installation gas pipework and systems

• Experience of civil and ground works

• Understanding of ATEX systems and requirements


• HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

• Gas qualification / Gas Safe registration

Professional Skills/Experience:

• Mechanical Engineering background

• Pipework systems

• Design of gas pressure reduction and booster systems

• Power Generation

• Civils and construction experience

• Proficient with modern design software and methods utilising 3D modelling and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

• Able to provide complex solutions to on-site power generation, advanced control, resistance to extremes as well as modern off-site monitoring systems
