Our client is looking for a Fleet Technical Support manager to join their team.

The ideal person must have Proven Managerial/Supervisory experience within a similar environment. Previous experience in working and negotiating with suppliers and Experience of Managing/Supervising a vehicle fleet. You must also have sound knowledge of the motor industry.

The main aspects of the role are -

To be responsible for the relationship with key UK suppliers, ensuring that both budget requirements and KPI’s are met.

To develop and maintain relevant supplier relationships

Ensure that relevant contracts, agreements and screening are in place for suppliers where required.


Objective – To ensure there is effective two-way written and verbal communication.

Ensure that all information, relevant to the department is effectively communicated to all.

Communicate any problems, developments or changes to the Technical Operations Manager

Ensure that key technical and company information is communicated in a timely and effective manner

Work closely with the Technical Training team to ensure changes to vehicles, tools & equipment are communicated in a timely manner.

Ensure that all relevant information on technician vehicles, stock, parts and equipment is communicated and acted upon within Technical Operations.

Technician Vehicles, Tools & Equipment

Objective – To ensure that the Technician Fleet’s are equipped in accordance with relevant scheme requirements

Ensure that Technician vehicles are sourced and equipped at the required standard and specifications

To manage the relationship with third party suppliers with regard to the delivery of the above.

Ensure minimum down time and disruption when replacing vehicle fleets

Ensure that the Technicians have the appropriate equipment, tools and parts stock available, in order to maximise roadside repair performance

To identify and manage the most appropriate parts procurement and disposal process, considering any relevant Manufacturer parts return processes.

Work closely with Fleet administration.

Planning and Budget Control

Objective – To plan and prepare equipment resource to ensure the delivery the required service levels in line with the department budget.

To ensure that technician vehicles are supplied and equipped to the required standard in line with budgetary requirements

Manage annual technician stock checks

Provide financial information to aid annual budget planning.
