Michael Page Engineering & Manufacturing are partnering with a successful materials management business, to recruit a General Manager to their Nottinghamshire site. They are market leaders within the materials management and processing industry and are experiencing rapid, yet sustained growth and therefore looking to expand and strengthen their existing team.

Client Details

The General Manager of this Nottinghamshire based business will be vital in driving production KPIs, in line with targets and strategy outlined by the Regional Director. The successful individual will be driven to succeed, able to engage their team in order to deliver ambitious productivity targets and able to apply their knowledge of continuous improvement to support in a range of activities across the site.


The General Manager for this Nottinghamshire based business will have the following key responsibilities:

To control all aspects of site operations, including engineering, operations and a strong emphasis on health and safety - but extending across commercial aspects of the business also - with full P&L responsibility
Driving KPIs across the business to ensure high levels of productivity and customer satisfaction
Play a key role within the leadership team to facilitate the attainment of business goals, objectives and subsequent growth across new locations
Ensure strict compliance with quality, health and safety and environmental management systems, in line with current legislation
Identify and implement appropriate lean manufacturing techniques, to improve productivity, quality, safety and costs
Provide effective leadership across levels of the business, by effectively communicating business goals, agreeing team and individual objectives and offering timely feedback
Managing commercial relationships in order to ensure high levels of satisfaction - whilst driving commercial performance targets


The successful General Manager for this market leading business will have the following attributes:

5+ years management experience, within a fast paced, heavy manufacturing environment - with a proven track record of driving challenging KPIs
Commercial acumen - with experience of managing customer relationships and negotiating sales
Proven experienced in using lean manufacturing methodologies e.g. 5S and Kaizen, etc
Excellent, and current knowledge of health and safety legislation - NEBOSH preferred
Strong communication skills, to ensure effective communication across all levels of the business and externally
