I am currently working with an established UK based Access Control and Human Capital Management (HCM) Manufacturer. Due to a retirement within the business they are looking for an experience Software Engineer to join their group. Although the company is UK based, they have established themselves well in both the US and Europe.

The responsibility of the Software Engineer will be design, develop, test and install software solutions. You will gather user requirements, define system functionally and write code using familiarity with the software development life cycle from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment. Your role will be to build high quality, innovative and full performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Key Duties:

* You will look to develop and maintain customer applications that run on the clients embedded products.

* The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of bespoke customer integrations this is via embedded and server-based applications.

* You will gather customer information and needs

* Using this information you will be responsible for analysis, scope, and production of high-level software designs.

* Implement and carry out unit, integration, and system testing.

* Support and write product and project documentations

* You will utilise internal contacts such as project managers, graphic artists, UX designers, other developers, systems analysts and sales and marketing professionals to perform your job to the best of your ability

* Stay informed and promote new engineering approaches that may benefit the business in order for them to grow further

What you need:

* BEng Degree in Computer Science or similar or equivalent experience (ESSENTIAL)

* Python OO design and programming skills. (ESSENTIAL)

* Familiar with technologies such as XML, SQL, web services, networking. (ESSENTIAL)

* Familiarity with Android design and programming skill (ESSENTIAL)

* Experience of Eclipse or Android Studio, GIT. (ESSENTIAL)

* Kotlin and Java experience. (DESIRABLE)

* Embedded Linux, C/C++ knowledge a bonus. (DESIRABLE)

* Strong understanding of embedded, server, cloud, mobile and security technologies. (DESIRABLE)

* Experience working in an agile product development environment. (DESIRABLE)

* Hardware / Electronics knowledge. (DESIRABLE)

* Familiar with Workforce Management industries. (DESIRABLE)

* Ability to work in a customer facing role, this may include technical training for a developer audience and meeting with senior stakeholders to gain their confidence and support.

* Ability to analyse and document customer requirements.

* Practically minded, not afraid of getting stuck in and hands on
