A very exciting opportunity has arisen with a large manufacturing client of ours in the The HS Advisor will be responsible for ensuring the working conditions of the company are favourable and safe.

They will be adept at leading, developing and maintaining plant management programmes and systems in written format and recording and through face to face contact, communication and team briefing. They will support line management in delivery of all Site SHE objectives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

* Determine the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the Plant’s HSE management programme and systems.
* Advise line management and assist with the implementation of new or existing Health and Safety-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include fire prevention and health and safety awareness training.
* To complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same.
* To investigate accidents and ensure all documentation is updated.
* To develop a monthly HSE communication strategy for all levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs.
* Advise on H&S risk management matters
* Full responsibility for Company preparation for annual HSE audits.
* Liaison with HR Dept for initiating and coordinating training plans and updating information for personal and audit requirements.
* Advise line management of Health and Safety matters and manage this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations.
* Lead the Company in meeting its obligations under relevant legislation.
* Provides support and expertise to line management in incident investigation and reporting.
* Facilitate all form of risk assessment eg general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and acts as a final authority where a specialist response is required in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site.
* Conducts occupational HSE related surveys eg noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and makes associated recommendations.
* Produces and coordinates all reports (annually and monthly), both routine and ad-hoc

* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, European Union and international regulation and legislation
* Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodies
* Audit, analyse and report environmental performance
* Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues
* Management of environmental management systems (ISO14001) to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment
* Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities
* Set organisational sustainability targets, and develop plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery.
