The Candidate

Our market-leading client is looking for a competent individual to lead their drilling team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Intermediate planning skills

• Able to operate machine based computer systems

• Able to operate multi-head CNC controlled drilling machines to an advanced level

• To communicate at an intermediate level with colleagues and superiors

• Commercial awareness and the ability to work to production targets, and measure and manage waste

• Able to delegate responsibility to staff and monitor their progress

• Able to manage own time effectively and work to deadlines.

• Able to build strong employee relationships

• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail

• At least two years' experience of supervising within high volume flat pack furniture production or a similar industry

• Holder of a full driving licence

Production Team Leader

The Role

Main purpose of the job:

To plan, organise and manage the day shift manufacturing resources within the drilling section in order to provide an efficient and effective production facility which hits production targets and quality standards, but minimises waste. To communicate effectively with and manage the activities and workload of the drilling section employees to achieve their production targets. To ensure the safe conduct and practices of employees while on site and to ensure compliance with ISO 9000 and FSC management systems.

On the busy factory floor the day to day duties will include but will not be limited to:

• To allocate the individual staff needed for efficient drilling production and to oversee quality, discipline, and overtime requirements to help control the labour costs

• To provide effective communications to the Production Supervisor to ensure that progress on the daily production plan and targets are reported accurately

• To track and monitor outstanding sales orders to provide effective communication and information to senior management and colleagues where required

• To oversee the safe conduct and practices of employees whilst on site and assist in promoting a safe workplace

• To supervise the internal receipt of raw materials for the drills and ensure paperwork is in order and processed accurately

• To ensure machines are kept clean and tidy and maintenance requirements are raised promptly with paperwork

• To ensure machine tooling is well organised and sent for servicing at the appropriate intervals

• Provide resources to ensure team briefings are carried out and ensure that points are actioned

• To ensure production compliance with the requirements of FSC standards

• To contribute to the ISO 9000 quality system in order to promote improved efficiencies and continual improvement
