Our client is a global market leader within the heavy industrial/mineral processing sector and operates a number of plants in the UK.

As a result of promotion, our client is seeking a degree educated Environmental Coordinator to work across three of its main production facilities. As Environmental Coordinator you will ensure high environmental standards and will champion a continuous improvement culture, identifying and justifying environmental improvement projects which add value to business and environmental performance.

You will be educated in environmental science or a similar discipline. As a member of the operations team and reporting to a Technical Manager, whilst also working closely with health, safety and sustainability, you will be responsible for the environmental performance of production plants. This will include advice and support in relation to ensure that the requirements of environmental permits are in place. In addition, you will ensure effective management systems are in place to address the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO 50001 including management of the regulatory interface on behalf of the business with the Environment Agency, Emissions Monitors, Waste Management Contractors and Certification Bodies.

The Role:

As Environmental Coordinator you will:

* Actively manage environmental and energy management systems to ensure that the policy, objectives & targets, procedures, incident reporting processes. training plans, audit plans, emergency preparedness cover the requirements of ISO14001 and 50001.

* Continuously drive improvement environmental impact and incident response through training and education of the operations team.

* Develop and implement environmental and energy standards and procedures ensuring energy and environment management system robustness; ensure that published SHE information is correct and up to date.

* Prepare an annual audit plan and lead annual audits, managing and facilitating any external audits and visits from the Environment Agency and other regulatory or certification bodies.

* Support operations management in ensuring compliance with permits. This will include advice/support on emission monitoring, waste management, packaging regulations EUETS support ensuring that all permit requirements are fully met.

* Complete the business environmental data management requirements which will include, quarterly and annual reporting to regulators, internal reporting such as centralised KPI sheets.

* Identify and propose improvements to improve efficiency and minimise bureaucracy.

* Liaison with the Environment Agency and with internal environmental and sustainability teams.

The Ideal Candidate:

* University degree educated in Environmental Science or similar subject.

* Currently working in an environmental management role within a chemical or mineral or similar bulk industrial processing environment.

* A good understanding of environmental regulations, requirements and environmental performance measurement and evaluation

* A demonstrable ability in ensuring environmental regulations and processes are effectively implemented at an operational level to ensure compliance with minimal bureaucracy.

* Excellent communication skills, able to engage with all levels within the business & externally.

* Focused on current and future environmental needs and challenges. The ability to coach and performance manage, leading and delivering change through others.

* A collaborator who can actively create and promote cross functional collaboration within the business unit and wider organisation.

* A motivated, confident and achievement driven, self-starter able to prioritise workflow

* A conceptual thinker able to communicate complex concepts effectively to others at all levels within the operation and Business Unit.

* Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex environmental data

* A strong problem solver with the ability to identify trends and recommend actions required.

* Effective project management skills & flexibility to respond to change

* Ability to challenge commonly held assumptions across the business and to bring together, motivate and work collaboratively with cross business teams

* Good presentation skills and confident in the coaching and supporting staff
