Position Summary:

This position will participate in milking cows, feeding calves, cleaning pens and facilities, cattle handling and animal health observations in an AAALAC accredited dairy heifer and lactating cow research operation. The position will uphold the cleanliness of the milking facility and cows to grade A standards. Participate in livestock research, aid the herd health program, and provide general care of newborn calves according to protocol.

Successful completion of required certifications, online trainings and courses, health questionnaires, etc., required to have contact with University owned cattle and work in an agricultural environment.

Interpersonal skills - must have the ability to communicate through oral and written means in a manner that promotes teamwork with: Station Managers, Agriculture Supervisors, Milkers, Veterinarians, Researchers & Technicians, Animal Research Technicians, and AREOs.

Ability to lift 70 pounds.

A CBC (criminal background check) will be conducted.

Position will be expected to work full-time including every-other-weekend during the AM shift (4:30 AM - 1:00 PM). Rotating holiday work will be required to meet the needs of the heifer replacement and lactating cow research operation.
