Senior Section Manager – Boston, Lincolnshire

£45,000 Per Annum

Shifts: Days OR Nights Available working 3-2-2

We are the leading provider of fresh prepared food in the UK, with an international presence in the US and China. Our 19,000 employees operate from 39 locations, developing and producing innovative food for a wide variety of occasions and budgets. In the UK, we work with leading grocery retailers, focusing on their own label brands.

Cucina Sano is based in Boston, Lincolnshire. It employs over 700 people and specialises in making chilled Italian ready meals and modern deli products for a dedicated customer. It is part of the Bakkavor Meals sector which has eight factories in the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has aspirations to step up into more senior roles in the future. We have 2 roles available within our management team, one working day’s and the other nights. We will need you to be flexible with your hours of work to help cover holidays and absence where possible.

We are looking for future business leaders, so we need someone with long-term step-up potential within the business. The role will be working along side the senior management team working on projects and CI initiatives as well as managing your team which has 3 shift managers, 9 section leaders and c150 production staff.

We are looking for someone ideally within food manufacturing or if you have a solid work history and excellent transferable skills.

Job Description

1 Health & Safety - To pro-actively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.

2 Quality Standards - To lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are kept and audit requirements are fully met.

3 Performance Management - To appropriately manage the performance of all teams members including section managers through the use of Bakkavor performance managements systems (i.e. appraisal) and, if necessary, to impose disciplinary sanctions in accordance with Company policy through to dismissal stage.

4 Training & Development - To own the training & development of all levels of team including managers. Actively coach, develop, recruit and train team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement within the business.

5 NPD Process – manages the NPD process within their area of responsibility to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch

6 Performance Improvement through use of KPIs – Challenges and introduces new KPIs to drive performance. Ensures Team delivers agreed KPIs across the operation Ensuring systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs. Develops and implements PIPs and identifies areas for improvement.

7 Resource Management - Plan, organise and measure labour and material requirements within their area to ensure that both short- and long- term agreed targets are met.

8 Communication – Manages the communication process in their area to ensure that the workforce in their area is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross-functional links and that channels of communication are clear and available.

9 Recruitment - Involvement in the selection process for direct reports and all staff within their area to ensure that the necessary skills are in place at all levels. Responsible for the supervision and coaching of Section Managers.

10 Employee Relations – Supports and encourages the Bakkavör values and a positive culture within their area, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management. Supports an effective SEF representation structure in their area
