We have a great opportunity for you, if you are a motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist / Graduate

The hours of work for this role are on a shift rotation, which means you will be required to work 12 hour shifts over days, nights and weekends - so please do not apply if you cannot commit to this!

You will ideally have experience in a blood transfusion laboratory being responsible for performing and analysing blood grouping tests, antigen-antibody tests and antibody titration tests related to the quality control and release of the blood grouping products.

Your responsibilities:

* Carry out complex quality control Immunohaematology tests and analysis to ensure the product complies with established specifications

* Carry out testing and quality control of blood grouping products in accordance with cGMP and GLP, identifying and recording anomalous observations.

* Interpret results and make recommendations for immediate and appropriate action liaising closely with Quality engineering, Production and Quality assurance.

* Act as site contact for quality issues for the blood grouping and immunodiagnostics products during out of hours shift cover (e.g. Responsible for calling a Rapid Responses).

* Prepare SOP's and associated documents for existing procedures.

* Operate QC testing equipment or carry out manual operations.

* Maintain operational environments.

* Maintain control charts for trend analysis. Understand principles of Statistical process control (SPC) and the uses of such systems.

* Ensure maintenance of QC Test equipment is carried out to agreed schedules. Supervise contract maintenance staff and sign off completed maintenance records.

* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and in associated implementation teams.

* Participate in shop floor work-flow planning, including weekly planning and interfacing between work groups.

* Review and update Operational Training Modules. Maintain up to date records while ensuring the area is in adherence regarding HSE requirements.

* Support the unit Training Plan. Maintain personal training records. Trained as Trainer, providing training to team members.

You will need to:

* be HNC or degree qualified in Biomedical Sciences or appropriate scientific knowledge/ laboratory experience.

* have theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of Immunohaematology principles, including blood grouping, antigen/antibody reactivity and antibody titrations would be desirable for this role.

* be able to use Microsoft computer packages, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel are essential

* able to communicate verbally with all members within the quality operations and production teams

* work as part of a team
