Job Overview:


This position is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will prepare designs for mechanical HVAC systems associated with the NASA Mobile Launch 2 project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs as well as s olid experience in HVAC system design and capable of developing design documents, including ventilation and instrument diagrams and equipment data sheets, that incorporate the applicable design requirements .

In this position the engineer will support design development of Mechanical HVAC systems and equipment for the project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with the client, partnering contractors, vendors, and other technical engineering disciplines in a team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate within the engineering group and other disciplines and groups independently in developing the preliminary and detailed system design and equipment identification in a team environment

Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently, including any required interface with other disciplines, groups, suppliers, and the customer

Perform design in accordance with system requirements, including evaluation of upstream and downstream interface conditions (flow, pressure, temperature) identified in Interface Control Documents (ICD).

Perform line sizing calculations and selection of design parameters (Design Pressure, Design Temperature).

Prepare technical input to mechanical schematic diagrams (P & ID or SMS) in accordance with project procedures and NASA requirements.

Prepare technical input to Design Analysis Reports (DAR) in accordance with project procedures and NASA requirements.

Prepare technical input to Material Requisitions (MR) for purchase of mechanical equipment and/or umbilicals arms.

Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product

Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team

Basic Qualifications:

BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 6 years of relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in Ventilation and Instrument Diagram (V & ID) development, HVAC system design, heat transfer and thermodynamic calculations, and HVAC equipment specification development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities

Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.

Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.

Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.

Working knowledge of Trace 700

United States Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior work experience in execution center environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.

MS degree in Mechanical or related Engineering, from an accredited university.

Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Mechanical or related Engineering).

Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

Knowledge of FATHOM and Arrow fluid analysis programs.
