We invite you to join the Centralized Clinical Documentation team. As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, you will be reviewing inpatient records for five Scripps Health acute care hospitals. In this role, you will facilitate improvement in medical record documentation by interacting with and educating physicians, nurses and coding staff to ensure medical records accurately reflect patient acuity for quality reporting and reimbursement. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, with high physician and coding staff interaction.



This is a Full Time, Salaried position located at our Scripps Corporate Office in La Jolla.



* Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:



- Registered Nurse required and/or RHIA or RHIT.

- Registered Nurse with preferred three years recent acute care clinical experience and/or RHIA or RHIT with five years acute care coding experience.

- Experienced computer user including word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems and graphic presentation programs.

- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

- Strong leadership qualities including the ability to motivate, teach and facilitate individuals and groups on reaching objectives of program.

- Working knowledge of Medicare reimbursement, third party payer requirements, ability to review and interpret clinical information, knowledge of hospital regulatory requirements desired.

- Computer literacy and ability to efficiently and effectively obtain clinical information from a variety of sources necessary.



Required Certification/Registration:



- CA Registered Nurse license.



Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:



- Bachelors degree and/or RHIA or RHIT.

- EPIC experience.

- CDI/Coding certification.

CDI Hospital experience.

Inpatient CDI experience.

-



EPIC and 3M 360 and/or Optum preferred.

AHIMA / ACDIS certification highly preferred.*
