Fleet Services Manager, Warwick/Haywood Road, Permanent

Role Profile:

Telent are looking for an experienced, CPC qualified Fleet Services Manager to be based at our Headquarters in Warwick to determine and manage the implementation of telent’s fleet strategy.

As a centralised operation, reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role requires strong people management skills and customer facing acumen to drive business growth.

You will be required to manage the performance of strategic Fleet suppliers, hire companies and telent’s Fleet team staff to ensure we meet customer and stakeholder demands, actively driving down costs and maintaining the optimum cost base to meet business requirements.

As leader of the Fleet Services team, responsible for around 3,500 assets, including cars and LCVs, your role will be to develop and implement strategies to support the delivery of a cost effective and fully compliant fleet solution, with a focus on legislative compliance and customer satisfaction whilst embracing new technology to give environmental and sustainability benefits to telent and our customers. Monitored through the implementation of key performance indicators or similar proven method to demonstrate continuous improvement.

This is a demanding and varied role, providing a great opportunity for you to further develop and improve the fleet operations and compliance area across our business through the development of strategies to support a safe, efficient and compliant fleet.

You will provide industry knowledge support and guidance to team members and operational colleagues, and you must be willing to travel within the UK to meet Project Leaders and suppliers as is required to support the implementation of the Fleet strategy.

You will drive continuous improvement across fleet operations using your contract and performance management skills, managing opportunities and mitigating risk with our 3rd party providers. You will provide specialist advice to influence decision making and/or development of solutions in respect of the fleet industry and employ a leading practice approach through keeping in touch with latest developments and innovation. You will manage and develop key stakeholder relationships to improve business performance, providing leadership and development to team members.

You will have a proven track record in managing a similar sized fleet of vehicles, across multiple sites and disciplines, with strong performance management and commercial skills. You will have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Transport Law, including Road Traffic Act Health & Safety, Construction & Use, FORS, work related road risk etc.

You will be innovative and challenging, with the ability to develop business cases to support changes and improvements. A Transport Manager CPC is essential for this role.

• Support the Head of Procurement in strategic and tactical planning, providing advice and guidance to deliver key improvements and efficiencies

• Develop strong and influential relationships within the Business to optimise service delivery

• You will take a proactive role in the performance of the Fleet Team and career management, ensuring adequate succession plans exist for key roles.

• Manage fleet 3rd parties to the agreed financial and performance service criteria

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in terms of economics and efficiency of Fleet operation

• Provide required reports, project plans, information and feedback to stakeholder and senior managers to contribute to telent’s effective strategic planning and budgeting in agreed formats and within agreed time frames

• Experience of managing a team

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a complex business with hands on capacity

• Proven experience of delivering business focussed solutions

• Proven experience of managing cost and performance of 3rd party providers

• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with multiple key stakeholders

• Ability to deliver information to various knowledge levels through different media

Detailed knowledge of VOSA / DVSA regulatory requirements regarding Fleet management activities

• Flexible, adaptable, can demonstrate a learning agility, sharing skills/knowledge within the team

• Exceptional work ethic with an energetic, positive attitude

• Confident in manner, challenges the status quo,

• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
