This recruitment is open to the public and will be advertised from Thursday, October 17, 2019 to Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11:59 P.M. (PST)



Human Resource Services will be accepting applications for only one day Wednesday, October 23, 2019.



This recruitment will establish an open eligible list. The eligible list established through this recruitment will be used to fill current/future vacancies within OC Waste & Recycling.



OC WASTE & RECYCLING

OC Waste & Recycling is an organization dedicated to providing waste management services, protecting the environment, and promoting recycling in order to ensure a safe and healthy community for current and future generations. OC Waste & Recycling operates three active regional landfills, four household hazardous waste collection centers, monitors 20 closed landfills, and administers municipal solid waste collection, recycling, and planning for County unincorporated areas. OC Waste & Recycling is a nationally renowned waste management department responsible for a network of sanitary landfills. The Department is committed to its exceptional record of regulatory compliance and excellence. OC Waste & Recycling partners with the Orange County-based Discovery Cube (previously known as Discovery Science Center) to sponsor the Eco-Challenge educational exhibit that teaches thousands of students each year to reduce, recycle and reuse in their daily life.

THE OPPORTUNITY

OC Waste & Recycling is seeking a Fee Station Attendant to provide outstanding customer service, including communicating information on County of Orange policies and government regulations on refuse disposal, while performing cash handling duties at the active landfills. The incumbent will have the opportunity to collect disposal fees by cash, check, or deferred charges in ition to preparing received funds for deposit. itional responsibilities include determining disposal fees by weight, category of loads, and fee schedule. The incumbent will also perform visual checks of waste received and notify waste inspection personnel of unacceptable materials.



DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 months of recent experience (within the last three (3) years) in the areas of handling cash, making change, writing receipts, keeping revenue records and making bank deposits. The successful individual will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possess exemplary customer service skills and have exceptional cash handling accuracy proven by an outstanding balancing record. This individual must have the ability to read, interpret and explain regulations and policies pertaining to the fee collection program and have knowledge of governmental regulations and County policies on refuse disposal.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Applications and supplemental responses will be screened for qualifications that are highly desirable and most needed to successfully perform the duties of this job. Only those candidates that meet the qualifications as listed in the job bulletin will be referred to the next step.



Eligible List | Score Groups: Once all assessments have been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.



Based on the Departments needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.
