Position Summary

ThisPosition reports to the Vice President of Ancillary and Support Services and isresponsible for the daily operation and development of all support servicesincluding Facilities, Food and Nutrition Services, Environmental Services,Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Safety, Public Safety (security) andParking. In conjunction with operational issues, this position is responsiblefor all regulatory compliance as it relates to OSHPD, CDPH, The JointCommission, CMS and associated bodies who regulate patient care within thelicensed facilities.

Thisposition is responsible to ensure that the support services departments providethe highest quality services in a cost effective and efficient manner to enablepatients to have optimal service and a Simply Better Experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Providesdirection and leadership to support services and serves as resource to the VicePresident Ancillary and Support Services on all projects. Reviews goals and objectives, budgets,financial reports, Performance Improvement activities and other departmentalreports. Presents to VP Ancillary and Support Services

- Participatesin Strategic Planning for areas of responsibility. Makes recommendations.

- Developsannually a set of goals and objectives for support services aligned with thehospitals strategic plans.

- Participatesin operational and quality committee structure to support and advance the needsof support services.

- Promotesa culture of environmental safety throughout the organization by maintaining aclean, safe and secure environment for patients, staff, physicians andvisitors.

- Activeparticipation, engagement and participation in the Environmental Safety programand the Environment of Care Committee

- Isaccountable for compliance to state and federal regulatory agencies includingThe Joint Commission, Title 22, Title 24, CDPH, and CMS.

- Developthe strategic plan for the support service areas

- Appliesthe planning process to provide appropriate forecasting, decision making andbudget preparation.

- Oversightof quality measures in the Support Services areas. Assures that qualityimprovement plans are developed and implemented in areas of responsibility.

- Recruitsand selects and motivates competent leaders for the Support ServiceDepartments.

- Integratesdepartments with other hospital departments by actively and cooperativelyparticipating in multidisciplinary projects and committees.

- Promotescommunications among departments.

- Ensuresthat departmental policies and procedures are developed and up to date oncurrent regulations and practices.

- Ensurescompliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations, and laws. Stayscurrent with legal, regulatory and policy development affecting areas ofresponsibility.

- Leadsor participates in committees relevant to support services.

- Utilizestime management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines as required.

- Maintainsprofessional growth and development and keeps current with latest trends inareas of expertise. Enhances professional growth and development throughparticipation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attendingin-service meetings and workshops.

- Determinestraining necessary for staff to maintain and enhance professional growth,development, and job knowledge where applicable.

- Follows establishedfacility policies, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety,environmental, and infection control guidelines.


Minimum Requirements

- Minimumof five years of experience with managing multiple departments in a hospitalrequired.

- Bachelorsdegree in Healthcare Administration or related field required. Masters degreepreferred

- Additionalrelevant healthcare experience

- Knowledgeof local, state, federal and regulatory requirements including The JointCommission, CMS, CDPH

- Abilityto adapt to rapidly changing and/or emergency situations

- LEANtraining preferred

- Excellentverbal and written communication skills
