Description

Responsible for the planning and delivery of an outstanding learner experience within additional learning support, functional skills and pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities
People:

Quality & Compliance:
• Undertake diagnostic assessments with all learners to gain an understanding of SEN needs and training needs in English, maths and ICT.
• Review and evaluate outcomes of diagnostic assessments and develop personalised individual support plans (ISPs) for each learner.
• Manage a caseload of SEN and Functional Skills learners to ensure they have the appropriate support to complete all qualifications.
• Develop and implement personalised session plans which ensure learners receive good quality teaching, learning and pastoral support.
• Ensure all learning sessions facilitate sufficient and demonstrable learning and development opportunity
• Ensure, where possible, that teaching and learning is contextualised to the occupational sector of the learner
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of learning sessions to ensure they fully meet the needs of individual learners
• Undertake, at least, monthly visits with all learners and provide written feedback following these sessions.
• Support learners using a blended delivery model including one to one support, workshops and Smart Sessions.
• Research and make use of special facilities and/or equipment to remove barriers to learning
• Check and assess learner work and provide good quality feedback that aids progression
• Ensure Smart Assessor is updated routinely to demonstrate impact of visits and ensure compliance with company and external requirements.
• Fully utilise Do-it-Profiler and BKSB to determine barriers to learning and develop skills of learners.
• Work with Curriculum Manager to develop a wide range of resources to support learners with ALS and Functional Skills needs.
• Ensure that ALS and Functional Skills referral processes are adhered to, in a timely manner.
• Develop and deliver exam preparation activities that builds confidence and provide learners with the best chance of success.
• Undertake exam invigilation, in-line with company policy, and ensure special measures are implemented for eligible learners with ALS learners
• Ensure agreed KPIs are achieved, as detailed in Quality and Compliance report, and that suitable action is undertaken where issues are identified.
• Maintain learner achievement levels as agreed with line manager
• Contribute to the annual self-assessment report for ALS and Functional Skills provision
• Develop and progress actions included within the Quality Improvement Plan
• Ensure adherence to funding body, inspectorate and awarding body procedures
• Share best practice both internally and externally
• Attend and actively participate in standardisation and team meetings.
• Comply with legal and organisational requirements for maintaining the health, safety and security of yourself and others in the learning environment
• Comply, at all times, with the company safeguarding and prevent policy and play an active role in keeping learners safe and secure in their learning environment.
• To be committed, adhere to and promote, the company Equality and Diversity policy at all times.
• Understand your own responsibilities, be committed to and comply with all company policies, procedures and guidelines with respect to the processing and management of all personal data.
• Undertake projects, initiatives and any other duties as directed by your line manager
• Comply with the company’s equality and diversity, Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies
• Ensure that colleagues and learners are safeguarded against all types of bullying, radicalisation or abuse

• Establish and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external

• Promote a positive and professional image of the Company and all of the services it delivers
Criteria
• Working knowledge of supporting ALS and Functional Skills learners
• Minimum of 12 months teaching and/or learner support experience
• Level 4 Certificate in Supporting the Learning of Learners with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
• Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or equivalent)
• Level 2 Functional Skill in Mathematics, English & ICT
• Certificate in Awareness in Mental Health problems (desirable)
• Certificate in Counselling Skills (desirable)
• Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance (desirable)
• Certificate in Understanding Autism (desirable)
• Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Disabilities (desirable)
• Outstanding organisational skills
• Sound attention to detail
• Outstanding teaching skills
• Outstanding literacy and numeracy skills
• Good IT skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Motivating & engaging
• High energy and enthusiasm
• Pragmatic approach to problem solving
