Tradewind are currently recruiting for an outstanding SEN teacher for a very popular Secondary school in Newham. The role is a full-time teaching position with responsibility for teaching SEN pupils. The post is to start ASAP or in September.

This position is best suited to teachers who have experience working with Autism (ASC) and complex moderate learning difficulties. All students in the class will have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). As a SEN teacher, you should be able to adapt your lessons and subject material to suit each student's ability.

The SEN Teacher would:

• Work with a class of 6 pupils

• Teach pupils with complex needs and Autism (ASC)

• Be supported by a full-time teaching assistant in class

• Use proactive de-escalation techniques and follow individual therapy plans

• Teach 30-minute lessons, these may be subject specific or across all subjects depending on the year group and ability of the class

• The students learn on the P Scales Curriculum

• SCERTS is a big part of the students learning scheme

• Tailor the learning environment and subject material to suit individual needs

The ideal candidate for this SEN Teacher role will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent

• Be a qualified teacher, comfortable teaching both at functional skills and foundation level.

• Be experienced in, or comfortable working in an environment with students aged xx-xx, with a variety of special needs, who present challenging behaviour.

The school are looking for a compassionate, keen and caring individual to join the team to support 6 pupils with autism and complex learning difficulties. Your day as a Special Needs Teacher will depend entirely on how you support the children and work with a lovely team of support staff. There really are no limits to the interests, passions, hobbies and activities that the students we support enjoy. As a Special Needs Teacher, flexibility is essential to both yourself and for the pupils in the class as you may be required to think on your feet and use your initiative. It is also key for this role that you are positive and someone who enjoys having a laugh. The pupils that you will be supporting will be an active bunch and enjoy a various leisure activity within the community, including swimming and shopping. It is also essential that you can commit to this role.
