Learning Mentor - Secondary school

Veritas are working with a small secondary school based in Richmond. The school have fantastic facilities and a very supportive SEN team. The school are currently looking for a professional and enthusiastic LEARNING MENTOR to join the inclusion team in September.

The Ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in either counselling, youth work, social work or teaching. Two years' experience working within schools is desirable.

Duties:
* Mentoring small groups of students and also working 1:1 with key pupils.
* Provide an effective transition from primary to secondary school for vulnerable students.
* Putting together individual tailor-made action plans as well as co-teaching some alternative curriculum lessons
* Liaising with senior staff and external parties
* Identify barriers to learning with pupils the teaching staff, parents/guardians and jointly engage strategies to overcome them

Key skills and experience:
* Degree in youth work, educational studies, counselling or social work
* 2 years' experience working within a school, ideally with SEN student
* Strong behaviour management skills and experience working with SEMH students.
* Professional manor, enthusiastic and friendly approach
