Elevation Senior Finance are delighted to support a leading retail organisation in Leeds centre as they seek to appoint a Financial Accounting Manager. Leading the Accounting team, you will ensure there is robust financial reporting within the business and be responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the balance sheet and working capital reporting. This is a pivotal new addition to the finance team where you can really make an impact on the wider business, ensuring accounting implications are considered in all commercial, operational and strategic decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Role supports the business as a key member of the Finance team, taking accountability for all areas of accounting
-Part of the leadership within the Finance team, helping to set standards and drive performance in financial control
-The role has accountability for managing the external audit process on behalf of the business ensuring all impacted parties within the business unit are prepared
-Interaction with non-finance teams will be critical to understanding the substance and intended outcome of proposed actions the Trading, Commercial teams
-Management and development of three direct reports and their teams
-Cash management responsibility on all bank accounts including UK and Overseas
-Maintenance of rolling cash flow forecast and cash plan and deal with matters arising in conjunction with the Head of Accounting
-Weekly cash reporting on all accounts ensuring accuracy
-Identification and investigation of variances from forecast prior to distribution
-Overall responsibility for the balance sheet including commentary for month end balance sheet review
-Key variance analysis of key balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis;
-Statutory format cash flow monthly & rolling forecast (monthly) to include in the management accounts pack/reporting
-Overall responsibility for stock accuracy including the understanding the processes and procedures in place to ensure stock accuracy & ensuring that these are documented
-Ensuring all regulatory requirements are adhered to with support from the Financial Accountant including understanding and renewing the facilities in place alongside the credit control team and ensure working at optimal levels in the facility
-Oversight and successful delivery of the annual audit process, including preparation, management, and communication at all stages
-Pro-actively feed into to tactical, operational and strategic decision making across the business ensuring accounting implications are understood and considered throughout
-Input into the leadership of the wider finance team and its continuous development
Actively contribute to the commercial analysis of the business
-performance vs budget, the opportunities, and risks that exist and how these can be managed
-Preparation and review of accounting assessments as required, leading the presentation of these to senior stakeholders

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

-Fully qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with solid PQE in a practice or business environment
Proven people management skills and the ability to establish and develop high-performing teams
-Confident liaising with external parties and managing these relationships on behalf of the business
-Attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of financial control
Commercial acumen, able to bridge the gap between the accounting implications of certain actions and the commercial objectives
-Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance colleagues
-Ability to influence and provide a challenge to the business, driving change where required and ensuring their views are clearly understood
-Excellent communicator, capable of translating complex matters into simple and understandable language
-Confident and self-motivated with a flexible approach to work
