Educational Psychologist – Derby City Council

We are looking for a fully qualified educational psychologists to work at competitive day rates to complete statutory assessments on behalf of Derby City Council.

We require detailed reports to be written which meet the exacting demands of the new code of practice. This means we expect the provision section of your reports to be quantified and specified.

You'll work with children and young people who are experiencing problems that hinder their successful learning and participation in school and other activities. These problems can include a range of emotional and social issues or learning difficulties.

The role requires working in consultation with parents, teachers, social workers, doctors and other people involved in the child's education in a variety of ways, including observations, interviews and assessments of the child. You'll also offer a range of appropriate interventions, such as learning programmes and collaborative work with teachers or parents.


• Experience in applying psychology with children.

• Fully qualified or will be by 1 September (acceptable BPS qualification)

• Understanding of Child Development

• Understanding of child protection issues and safeguarding children procedures

• Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, and the Disability Discrimination Act.

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Enhanced DBS
