Forde Automotive are looking for Mobile Vehicle Technicians to work with our client, a national automotive recovery and repair company, on the Manufacturer Recall sector of the business.

What will my working day involve?

* Contribute to the effective operation of our client’s Manufacturer Recall Business by undertaking inspections, repairs and servicing in accordance with established conditions and operating instructions.

* Undertake high standard vehicle repairs, remedial work in accordance with established conditions and operating instructions as well as pre-repair / post-repair checks and report findings accurately.

* Have good business acumen to be able to convey findings in a suitable manner for the customer and be able to undertake these repairs in a safe and effective manner.

* Provide advice and assistance within own area of competence, ensuring that if customers require assistance you cannot provide they are directed to the appropriate service or department.

* Working on site or at customer locations without direct supervision from their superior.

* Ensuring the optimum use of time and costs when undertaking this work, working within ICME repair times.

* Maintain a high standard of serviceability and cleanliness any vehicle, tools and equipment issued for individual use, maintaining accurate records of vehicle work carried out in accordance with current procedures and Health and Safety requirements.

* Maintain accurate records of all paperwork necessary to ensure satisfactory job performance in accordance with current procedures.

What do we need from you?

* Be able to work flexible hours which may cover bank holidays, evenings and weekends, as well as having a flexible approach to travelling. You may on occasion be required to stay overnight (hotel & meals provided)

* To maintain a high standard of driving, courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with customers and the general public and uphold the image of the client with an appropriate awareness of personal and customer’s safety at all times.

* To keep abreast of technological and safety developments, as they affect the diagnosis and repair of motor vehicles. This may involve attending manufacturer courses and our clients’ specific courses, some of which could be residential.

* Maintain a thorough knowledge of all types of vehicles.

* Be fully conversant with all hand held communication systems used within our client’s operations and ensure that all communication is maintained to the standards required by the client and its customers.

What kind of skills or qualifications do I need?

* Mechanical qualifications at L1 or above i.e. City and Guilds or L1 or above NVQ in mechanics or equivalent

* Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy with the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally

* A thorough and accurate approach to work – self-motivated and able to work alone

* Good timekeeping – imperative for our clients customer experience

* Flexibility and able to work outdoors in all weathers

* Full UK Driving licence with no more than 6 points

* Person skills – you will be dealing with customers under all conditions, sometimes they might be upset, stressed or quite simply having a bad day made worse by their vehicle error. It is important you have good customer skills and can handle said situations with the utmost professionalism and courtesy.

What we would really love to see in addition to the above:

* Previous garage or workshop experience

* Previous car inspection or appraisal work

* Previous MOT experience

* At least 2 year’s industry experience within last 5 years

The important bits:

* £21,060 per annum – OTE £26,000 – very realistic and achievable OTE

* Contract type: Permanent

* Brand new company van and tools provided

* Opportunity to further knowledge and be provided with specific training on manufacturer products – good for career development and future prospects

* Hours: Dependant and can vary – we ask you are flexible and can cover (if necessary) bank holidays, evenings and weekends
