2nd Line Support Engineer - £24,000 - £34,000 + Bens - Basingstoke

Due to company expansion, this well-established managed service provider is looking to add a 2nd Line Support Engineer to their close existing technical team of 16. You will be expected to provide outsourced IT support service to their key clients within the South of England and London.

The 2nd Line Support Engineer will be expected to fulfill the key responsibilities:

Provide remote and on-site support to diagnose and resolve technical problems with a range of support tools and portals
Respond to new and existing support calls whilst ensuring to provide efficient and friendly 2nd line support functions across a variety of systems for clients
Install new equipment when visiting client sites and support any existing equipment/ systems providing a thorough level of care
Communicate well and inform clients of initial problems and resolutions allowing you to manage expectations
Utilise the company knowledge base to document technical issues with a detailed description of the resolution and infrastructure information

The 2nd Line Support Engineer will have the specific skill set:

Previous experience working on desktop support of Windows 7/8/10 and Mac OSX
Have a good understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems including (Apply online only), terminal server and farms
A thorough understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, Permission Structures, DHCP, DNS and server roles
Experience with Network configurations, routers, firewalls, switching, proxy, VPNs, VLANs and NAT rules
Be able to provide email support, predominantly with Microsoft Exchange but Office 365 and Google Apps for Business also
Proven ability of experience with troubleshooting and testing skills
Knowledge of virtualisation environment in Hyper-V
Have experience with Hosted telephony management, ideally 3CX but a base of VoIP and Hosted PBX Solutions

The ideal 2nd Line Support Engineer will have:

Good communication and customer service skills
The ability to prioritise user issues based on impact and severity
Work to your own initiative and confidently resolve problems independently
Possess good time management skills and good telephone manner
Present the company and yourself to a high standard
