SEND Learning Support Assistant for Post-16 SEND College in North Birmingham for a temp-perm position starting in September 2019

I am supporting one of our SEND College’s to recruit for a SEND Learning Support Assistant on a temp-perm contract starting in September. The role will require a SEND Learning Support Assistant to support young adults with Autism, SEMH, MLD and SLD. You will also be expected to provide personal care.

The college has created a curriculum to accommodate a personalised timetable based on student’s aspirations and individual need. The college engaged the students in Employment and Volunteering, Friends, Relationships and Community, Functional Skills, Music Therapy, Physiotherapy, Sensory and Communication and Speech and Language Therapy.

The provision is flexible and always focuses on preparing for adulthood which will:

Enable learners to develop skills that support a successful transition to adulthood.
Promote and build upon an individual’s level of independence.
Develop employment or voluntary opportunities.
Further develop semi-independent or independent living skills.
Create opportunities to make friends, build relationships and access the community.
Maintain good health.

The college caters to young adults with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The friendly placement centre provides up to a 36-week provision for up to 30 students with fantastic facilities, set within beautiful, rural settings.
